Often clients will ask me to help adjust the wall color palette to reflect their taste and lifestyle as they move into a new house. ‘Hot Tomato’ works for some people in their kitchen, but this couple wanted a more ‘Zen’, quiet, sophisticated wall color design to feel at home in their new space.

This house, set in the foothills west of Lyons, CO has some wonderful ‘built-in’ features: cherry cabinets, rich granite counter tops and a glass mosaic backsplash in the kitchen; nice architectural  qualities like vaulted ceilings.  Not to mention views to die for. We wanted the wall color to relate a little more to these features, as well as the natural environment, to create a cohesive, harmonious space.

In the master bedroom, we changed the trim and accent walls from a carmel brown to a rich gray (Ben Moore CSP-85 “Tweed  Coat”), tying into the gray in the adjacent bath marble tile.

The Ben Moore CSP-340 “Pinky Swear” (a subtle, sophisticated pink for adults) on the master bedroom walls nicely balances the feminine with the masculine gray.

We decided to leave the existing tea green walls in the bathroom, bringing in the gray accent wall and trim from the bedroom.

In the walk out lower level living area,  we tamed the bright red accent walls to an earthy clay, Ben Moore CSP-325 “Amaretto”, which was a happy match with the brick.
