OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACarina Ngai created this informative and well-crafted  SlideShare presentation on “Design for Aging”, LinkedIn. She exposes stereotypes about seniors and focuses on who the population really is today, what’s important to them and how we create objects and services to meet their needs and desires.
As a color designer, I’m learning how to become more aware of designing color palettes and spaces to support us as we age. Most of us are unaware that we can develop a yellow film over our eyes as we get older that changes how we see color. Blues and greens dull way down or disappear while spice colors like yellows and reds are prominent. Patterns and texture become even more important for visual and tactile interest.
